Admitted Student Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

 

Q1: How do I accept my admission offer to NSYSU?

A:  All admitted students must deliver in person or mail the Admission Acceptance Form and required documents to the Office of International Affairs at Room 1006 of the Administration Building before the deadline.

* A copy of authenticated certificate of the highest degree diploma and transcript.  The highest degree diploma and transcript must be authenticated by the R.O.C. Embassy, Consulate Office or Taipei Economic & Culture Office in the country of the issuing university. For students who graduated from a University in Taiwan, please submit the Chinese degree diploma and transcript.  These documents do not required for further verification.

*A copy of translated certificate of diploma and transcripts, if the original is not in Chinese or English. The translated certificate of diploma and transcripts must be authenticated by the R.O.C. Embassy, Consulate Office, or Taipei Economic & Culture Office in the country of the issuing university.

Notes:

1.Applicants who have not confirmed by the deadline will be regarded as to forfeit their admitted status, and the admission will be given to applicants on the waiting list.

2. Admission package will be mailed to admitted students who have submitted the mention documents in time.

 

 

Q2:How do I apply for on-campus housing?

 

A:On-campus housing online application link is in the Pre-arrival Handbook.   All students must complete online housing application before deadline.  Announcement will be made in

August/January on website ?Lang=en

 

 

Q3:When do I need to arrive at NSYSU?

 

A: All students should plan to arrive 7 days before the semester starts.  That will give you the time to complete the student checklist, freshman physical examination and registration process. Please be aware that if you fail to register during the registration period then your student status will be revoked. 

 

Q4: How can I complete my student checklist?

A: All students must submit the following documents upon registration:

*4 2-inch passport photos

*Personal Information Form for Freshman

*A Photocopy of passport (the page with the passport number on it)

*A photocopy of the Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)

*A photocopy of Taiwan's the National Health Insurance Card (not required for those who have not applied yet).

*NSYSU freshman physical examination fee NTD880. (It is mandatory for all freshman students to take physical examination on campus).

*6-months Insurance certificate. Personal health insurance certificate must be authenticated by the R.O.C Embassy, Consulate Office or Taipei Economic & Culture Office in the country which the student reside. (not required for those who have valid Taiwan's the National Health Insurance Card ).

* Original authenticated diploma and transcripts; if the original is not in Chinese or English, an authenticated photocopy of the translated certificate of diploma and transcripts are required to submit. For students who graduated from a University in Taiwan, please submit the Chinese degree diploma and transcript.

*A photocopy of Taiwan Scholarship Program Award Certificate (only for Taiwan Scholarship receipt)

*A photocopy of the post office or bank passbook (only for those who have received National Sun Yat-sen University Scholarship and Taiwan Scholarship).

NoteStudent card only will be issued to students who have submitted the mention documents in time.

 

Q5: When should I pay tuition fee?

Q6: How do I choose my courses?

Q7:When should I complete online registration?

A:Students must complete registration for each term during the registration period. The freshmen will register during orientation day. For updated and detailed information regarding online registration, please visit our website http://selcrs.nsysu.edu.tw/stu_enroll/.

 

 

Q8:When should I join for Taiwan's the National Health Insurance Plan?

 

A:All students who have ARC and continuously stay in Taiwan for 6 months long, are mandatory to join Taiwan's the National Health Insurance Plan.  If students are not qualified to join the plan then they should present a proof of medical and injury insurance certificate which is valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Taiwan, or join Taiwan's medical insurance company until you are qualified to join the National Health Insurance Plan. The above mentioned written proof of insurance issued in a foreign country shall be verified by Taiwan Representative Office. 

Note: The term of continuously means that students may leave Taiwan once no more than 30 days.

Q11: How can I apply for free Chinese Class?

A: Free Chinese class opens every semester. A completed application form together with NT$1,000 deposit must submit to the Office of International Affairs (Rm 1006) before the deadline. The deposit will be returned if students have 80% attendance and take Chinese Test.

 

Q12: When do I receive my scholarship?

A: NSYSU scholarship and Taiwan scholarship will transfer to student's account on 20 each month, excepting September and February due to administration process. Scholarship awardees will receive 2 months scholarship on 20 October and March.  If the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday, then the scholarship will be transferred to the last business day prior to the 20th. 

 

Q13: Can I defer my offer of admission?

A: Admitted students are eligible to apply for admission deferment. A completed NSYSU Deferral Application Form together with required documents must send to the Registration Division before the deadline. Please be aware that if the NSYSU Deferral Application Form and required document failed to be delivered before the deadline, then the admission status will be cancelled.  

►Note:The deferment period is one academic year only.
