To provide international students with opportunities to conduct advanced studies in undergraduate & graduate programs at higher educational institutions in the Republic of Korea in order to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between countries, NIIED(Ministry of Education in Korea) offers special scholarship which is called GKS.

Scholarship Amount

- Scholarship covers whole tuition fee

- Monthly Stipend

- Degree Program (Master’s or Doctoral): 900,000 KRW-

- Research Program: 1,500,000 KRW

Eligibility

1. Nationality

- Applicants and their parents must not hold Korean citizenship

- Korean citizens and dual citizenship holders (one how have Korean Citizenship and citizenship of another country) are NOT eligible to apply.

- Applicants and their parents who had previously held Korean citizenship must submit the document that prove their renunciation of Korean citizenship.

2. Age

- Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of September 1, 2019 (born after September 1, 1979).

- Academic Professors who are under 45 years of age as of September 1, 2019 (born after September 1, 1974): and hold citizenship of one of Official Development Assistance(ODA) recipients listed in the table(page 7).

3. Degree Requirements

- Applicants must hold(or expected to hold) a Bachelor’s or Master’s or Doctoral degree by August 31^st, 2019.

- Applicants must maintain a grade point average (GPA) higher than any ONE of the followings:

　- 2.64 on a 4.0 scale;

　- 2.80 on a 4.3 scale;

　- 2.91 on a 4.5 scale;

　- 3.23 on a 5.0 scale; or

- Score percentile: 80%
