USING VISUAL STORYTELLING FOR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND SOCIAL JUSTICE

Over three weeks last fall, OSUN students in Annandale, Berlin, Palestine, and Bishkek learned how to produce audiovisual case studies documenting research and civic engagement work they undertook for their courses. The powerful videos and meaningful in-class discussions the class generated demonstrated the valuable “real world” connection that digital case studies provide. Read the full story and watch the videos.

ADAPTING TO THE NEW REALITY: GRADUATE STUDENTS RESPOND TO THE CRISIS

A READING WORKSHOP SERIES ON "THE ETHICS AND POLITICS OF CARE"

Workshops  are held on Tuesdays, March 9th, March 23rd, April 6th, April 20th, May 11th, and May 25th.

NEW KINDS OF ATTENTION: ONLINE IWT WORKSHOPS

Join faculty from The Bard College Institute for Writing and Thinking (IWT) for two online workshops on March 5. This one-day event will serve as an introduction to IWT's foundational writing-to-learn practices and model ways to use these practices in the classroom. Tuition is waived for OSUN faculty.  Learn more. Register.

ONLINE ART WORKSHOPS LED BY MFA CANDIDATES: MARCH 15 - APRIL 19

Bard Master of Fine Arts and OSUN are offering three art workshops in contemporary sound, sculpture and photography, designed and led by current Masters candidates. Workshops are open to OSUN students of all levels of art experience. Registration deadline is Wednesday, March 10.

ExEd HUB PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATORS

Applications are now open for the OSUN Executive Education Hub at Central European University's Professional Development Program for University Administrators. The first two courses focus on building and supporting research excellence in universities and strategic and inclusive management. Application deadline is March 8. Apply.

STUDENT SENIOR PROJECT PANEL NOMINATIONS FOR MAY 2021

OSUN Student Panels featuring the work of graduating seniors are planned for May 2021. Panels will be comprised of students from across the network, moderated by faculty members, and organized around OSUN themes. Nomination deadline is March 18.  Nominate a graduating senior here.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT MICROGRANTS FOR SPRING 2021

The Open Society University Network invites campus and community-based projects to apply for grants of up to $750. Microgrants fund student-led civic engagement projects throughout the network. Deadline to apply is March 19, 2021.

COMMUNITY INNOVATION HUBS: INSTITUTIONAL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT GRANTS

OSUN and the Bard Center for Civic Engagement invite applications from academic leaders to enhance the capacity of student-led start-up initiatives that have the potential to become long-term institutional initiatives focused on addressing an identified community need. Grants are for $15,000 USD for a one-year period. Deadline to apply is March 30.

ENGAGED CAPSTONE OR SENIOR PROJECT GRANTS

Grants ranging from $500-$1000 USD are available to support capstone or senior project research that is centered on a question that emerges from a community engagement activity or experience, or that is conducted in collaboration with a community partner. Deadline to apply is April 1. Apply.

ENGAGED RESEARCH FUND INFORMATION SESSION

The OSUN Engaged Research Fund invites applications from graduate students and faculty at OSUN partner institutions who are working to develop long-term, sustainable community partnerships as a central part of their research. Engaged Research Fund applications are due April 15th, 2021. Learn more.

Organized by the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities, the internationally renowned London Critical Theory Summer School enables graduate students and academics to engage in a two-week course of study with acclaimed critical thinkers.  The application deadline has been extended to March 15.

ORAL HISTORY AND RESEARCH TRAINING SEMINAR IN EASTERN AFRICA

The OSUN Research Hub in Eastern Africa invites applicants to a four-month graduate-level seminar in Oral History and Literature. The course is part of the OSUN Hubs for Connected Learning Initiatives, which offers accredited courses, pathways for learners, and research opportunities to those affected by conflict and displacement, including the host communities. CEU SUMMER UNIVERSITY 2021

CEU's Summer University invites applications from OSUN students, faculty, staff and community partners for its 2021 online summer courses.  The courses are taught in June and July by international teams of scholars and practitioners.

EXPERIMENTAL HUMANITIES COLLABORATIVE NETWORK FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

The Experimental Humanities Collaborative Network (EHCN) is rethinking the humanities in the light of changing technologies, our increasingly connected planet, the ongoing ecological crisis, and the need to create more inclusive institutions. GLOBAL SCHOLARS ACADEMY

The Global Scholar Academy, led by The Graduate Institute of Geneva and Harvard Law School, is an intensive residential experience designed to enable junior faculty and post-doctoral scholars to engage in sustained, interdisciplinary, peer-to-peer collaboration. Applications from scholars from the Global South and those working on policy challenges of concern to communities in the Global South are encouraged. Applications and letters of recommendation are due April 2, 2021.

The OSUN Research Hub in Eastern Africa invites applicants to a 10-month research fellowship. Selected Fellows will serve as the inaugural cohort for the Hub and will have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and OSUN leadership. The Hannah Arendt Center Global Humanities Network invites scholars and students from OSUN to come together in Vienna, June 7-11, 2021, for an opportunity to read and discuss Helga Nowotny’s In AI We Trust: Power, Illusion, and Control of Predictive Algorithms.
