OSUN GLOBAL OBSERVATORY ON ACADEMIC FREEDOM CHOSEN BY COUNCIL OF EUROPE FOR HIGHER ED STUDY

The Council of Europe announced that OSUN’s Global Observatory on Academic Freedom and partnering institution Central European University’s Yehuda Elkana Center for Higher Education were awarded a contract to study the relationship between the fundamental values of higher education and quality assurance. SOLVE CLIMATE BY 2030 PROJECT MEMBERS TO KICK OFF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES CONFERENCE

On June 28, members of OSUN’s Solve Climate by 2030 initiative will participate in an international panel during the opening plenary of the Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences (AESS) 2021 virtual conference on “Community, Commitment, Collaboration: Moving Toward a Just Future.” Read more.

BOOK TALK BY AUTHOR, EDUCATOR, TATTOOER PHUC TRAN HONORS WORLD REFUGEE DAY

Author, educator, classicist, and tattooer Phuc Tran (Bard ’95) will give a virtual talk on June 25 in honor of World Refugee Day. Tran, who migrated from Vietnam with his family in 1975, is the author of acclaimed memoir, SIGH, GONE: A Misfit's Memoir of Great Books, Punk Rock, and The Fight To Fit In.

GLOBAL FELLOWS MONTHLY CIVIC ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOPS

OSUN Global Fellows are presenting a series of 12 workshops that allow student leaders to learn from each other’s experiences and gain training to support their civic engagement projects. Discussions relate to project management, recruitment, leadership and sustainability.

SUMMER INSTITUTE ON DEBATE IN THE CLASSROOM

Monday, July 19 - Friday, July 23

The Center for Liberal Arts Pedagogy (CLASP) and the Global Debate Network invite faculty from across the network to join an online five-day Summer Institute on facilitating classroom debates.  Deadline to register is July 16.   Learn more and register.

ENGAGED AND APPLIED PHILOSOPHY


The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory is calling for papers for the 7th International Conference of the Group for Social Engagement Studies, taking place September 30 - October 2, 2021. The conference will explore the conceptual difference between applied and engaged philosophy, reflecting upon the role of philosophers in modern society. 
Application deadline is July 15.

ZAGORKA GOLUBOVIĆ ENGAGED RESEARCH AWARD 2021


The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory is calling for applications for the annual Zagorka Golubović Early Career Engaged Research Award. The award is for original scientific articles in the social sciences and humanities published in the past year in Serbian or English. Deadline to apply is June 30.

OSUN and the Experimental Humanities Network call on artists working in digital-based mediums to submit their work for a multi-site new media art exhibition, emphasizing expression of personal experiences surrounding names and being named.

EHU SUMMER UNIVERSITY CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

European Humanities University invites applications for participation in its Summer University on “Human Rights for Everyone: Restoring Justice. Case of Belarus." The Summer University will be held in online and offline formats August 8-14. Deadline to apply is July 10. Learn more and apply.

THREATENED SCHOLARS INTEGRATION INITIATIVE CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Threatened Scholars Integration Initiative works with scholars seeking alternative teaching, research, or advanced study positions outside their home countries, due to threat from authoritarian regimes, persecution, or other risks, and places them in OSUN institutions.
