2026 NIMS International Cooperative Graduate Program (ICGP): Applications Now Open
Scope and Objectives:
The International Cooperative Graduate Program (ICGP) at NIMS aims to create a collaborative environment for doctoral students from NSYSU, supporting advanced research and professional exchange.
Eligibility:

NSYSU full-time PhD students

Student registration must cover the entire duration of the stay in Japan
Duration: 6 to 12 months (The duration may be divided into multiple visits)
Participant position: Trainee with visa sponsorship
NIMS shall accept the Students as trainees conducting research work under the guidance of NIMS researchers. The research activities thus conducted shall be regarded by NSYSU as part of the Students’ academic careers and the results may be included in their theses.
Expenses Coverage:

Student / Advisor Responsibilities: Candidates are responsible for travel expenses and insurance.

NIMS Coverage: NIMS covers living Expenses (approx.120,000 yen/month) and provides accommodation (single bedroom).

Tuition and Facilities: No tuition fees or charges for facility use are applied to students by NIMS.

Note: NIMS does not support visa procedures for accompanying family members.

Explore research interests: Visit the NIMS Research Directory site "SAMURAI" to explore the research interests of NIMS researchers.

Ensure alignment: Make sure that your research interests fit within the relevant research fields before contacting a NIMS researcher.

Confirm Support: Once a potential supervisor is identified, contact them and confirm their willingness to support your application.

Apply: Submit the required documents to oia.outbound@mail.nsysu.edu.tw by November 30, 2025.

Submission to NIMS: 9 January 2026

NIMS Review: Final selections will be assessed by NIMS

Application review: Applications are reviewed based on the submitted documents (including transcripts). NIMS may contact the applicant's supervisor directly for a reference letter.

Interviews: Online interviews may be conducted during the process.

Result Announcement: mid-March 2026

Training Start: from July 2026

Additional Supporting Documents (if available): English Proficiency Test results, and a recommendation letter from your supervisor.
