TODAY: CEU DEMOCRACY INSTITUTE: DEBATE ON THE RULE OF LAW CONDITIONALITY MECHANISM 

Monday, January 25, 11AM-12PM CET 

In this debate on the rule of law conditionality mechanism recently adopted by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament, the speakers, EU Commissioner Didier Reynders and Member of the European Parliament, Katalin Cseh, will discuss the rationale for such a solution, the doubts of some European governments, as well as a more philosophical view on the EU’s competences in this matter. NEW KINDS OF ATTENTION: ONLINE IWT WORKSHOPS

 

Join faculty from The Bard College Institute for Writing and Thinking (IWT) for a new online workshop series February 5 and March 5. These one-day workshops will serve as an introduction to IWT's foundational writing-to-learn practices and model ways to use these practices in the classroom, whether online or in person. Workshop offerings include:

  • Introduction to Writing and Thinking (Feb. 5)
  • Introduction to Writing to Learn (Feb. 5)
  • Introduction to Thinking Historically through Writing (Mar. 5)
  • Introduction to Writing to Learn in STEM (Mar. 5)

DEADLINE EXTENDED: LONDON CRITICAL THEORY SUMMER SCHOOL

 

Organized by the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities, the internationally renowned London Critical Theory Summer School enables graduate students and academics to engage in a two-week course of study with acclaimed critical thinkers. Third-year undergraduate students as well as Masters and Ph.D. students across the OSUN network are invited to apply. The application deadline has been extended to February 23.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS: SYMPOSIUM ON DIFFERENCE AND JUSTICE

The Third Annual Symposium on Difference and Justice will take place on Saturday, March 20. Hosted by the Bard College Network, the virtual symposium considers that question “How, Do We Create a Healthy Environment While Living in an Inequitable World?”  OSUN students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit proposals to present a workshop at the symposium. Proposals must be submitted by February 26, 2021. Learn more and submit a proposal.

CEU SUMMER UNIVERSITY 2021

CEU's Summer University invites applications from OSUN students, faculty, staff and community partners for its 2021 online summer courses. 

The courses, offered online during June and July, are taught by international teams of scholars and practitioners. Many courses are developed and co-taught as OSUN partnerships and contribute to on-going projects and collaborations. 

Online SUN courses are tuition-free for OSUN partners and affiliates. The deadline for applications is March 22, 2021.

EXPERIMENTAL HUMANITIES COLLABORATIVE NETWORK FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

The Experimental Humanities Collaborative Network (EHCN) is rethinking the humanities in the light of changing technologies, our increasingly connected planet, the ongoing ecological crisis, and the need to create more inclusive institutions. Funding opportunities are available to OSUN EHCN partner institutions. Funding is available to support project and course development, action clusters, and student research. GLOBAL SCHOLARS ACADEMY

 

The Global Scholar Academy, led by The Graduate Institute of Geneva and Harvard Law School, is an intensive residential experience designed to enable junior faculty and post-doctoral scholars to engage in sustained, interdisciplinary, peer-to-peer collaboration. The Academy is open by application to advanced junior scholars working to understand and map the levers of political, economic, and legal authority in the world today. Applications from scholars from the Global South and those working on policy challenges of concern to communities in the Global South are particularly welcome. Applications and letters of recommendation are due April 2, 2021.

CEU invites applications for the OSUN Modular Doctoral Fellowship program. The program supports junior faculty at select OSUN universities who wish to undertake doctoral studies while maintaining their academic positions and continuing teaching at home universities. The fellowships are open for all doctoral programs at CEU and interested candidates apply through the regular CEU admissions procedureApplication deadline is February 1, 2021. Learn more and apply.

HUMAN RIGHTS & THE ARTS FELLOWSHIPS 2021-2022

The OSUN Center for Human Rights & the Arts invites applications for two one-year research and teaching fellowships in human rights and the arts. The positions are open to individuals working in a variety of fields where human rights and the arts intersect, including artists, curators, researchers, scholars, writers, filmmakers, advocates and activists.  Learn more.

Artificial Intelligence and the Humanities Working Group - Call for Participants: The Hannah Arendt Global Humanities Network is initiating a working group to explore foundational questions about artificial intelligence (AI) and its consequences for questions discussed in the humanities.
