The 2023 London Critical Theory Summer School will take place from 26 June to 7 July. It will once again run on Birkbeck's campus in central London, but may revert to either a hybrid model or a full-scale online programme if the world health situation and travel-related restrictions globally require us to do so.

APPLYING FOR THE IN-PERSON SUMMER SCHOOL

Applications for the 2023 Summer School (in-person programme) close on 20 January 2023.

Applications have three different fee levels:

• Standard fee - £950
• Reduced fee - £750. Available to Birkbeck staff and students, students currently studying at any formal educational institution, CTTS alumni, alumni from OSUN institutions

BURSARIES

As shown on the application form, we are able to offer three BIH bursaries to Birkbeck students and one bursary to an international student. 

In addition, the Open Society University Network have generously provided ten full bursaries (which also pay for the fee and accommodation and a fixed rate contribution to travel and visa costs) for exceptional students from all OSUN-participation institutions (please see a full list of OSUN Member Institutions). Our funders especially welcome applications from the institutions in the Global South.

Alongside details of current and previous education, we ask applicants to submit a 500-word personal statement. Applicants should give specific details about why they would like to study under this year's teaching cohort, and also detail their reasons for applying to the London Critical Theory Summer School at Birkbeck, University of London.

APPLYING FOR THE VIRTUAL SUMMER SCHOOL

Applications for the 2022 LCTSS virtual programme close on 20 January 2023.

The 2023 LCTSS virtual programme is intended as an educational experience for those of you not sure whether you are ready for the full in person course, if you have concerns about travel or are on a reduced budget.

COST

All participants to the virtual programme pay a fee of £200.

BURSARIES

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Open Society Foundation, we are able to offer 20 bursaries for students from educational institutions who are part of the Open Society University Network to attend this version of the programme.
