- The fifth academic year for undergraduate students, and the third academic year for graduate students, are considered as extended study.
- Students who take 10 or more credits during extended study will be charged full tuition fees (refer to table A).
- There are two stages of tuition payment for extended study.
For the first stage, students should finish the payment for miscellaneous or tuition fees by registration. For the second stage, students have to pay credit fees after the add and drop period.

- Students can choose to purchase their own insurance before coming to Taiwan, or join the international student medical insurance program arranged by NSYSU upon registration (No. 4 in the table above).
- Students who choose to purchase insurance on their own are required to provide proofs of personal health insurance upon registration. The insurance coverage should last for 6 months (Fall semester admission: September to February, Spring semester admission: March to August)
The insurance documents acquired abroad should be authenticated by a Taiwan overseas representative office. - After 6 months of residence in Taiwan, it is mandatory for international students with ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) to join the National Health Insurance (NHI) program.
