[Fwd] e-Yantra Robotics Competition: A platform to engage with young Indian engineers
e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC), a popular student competition hosted at IIT Bombay, is now offered globally to undergraduate students of engineering. The competition is an engineering MOOC that trains students in engineering skills (such as Embedded Systems, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Control Systems, Functional Programming, and Image Processing) through Project Based Learning. By qualifying for the finals, the students have the opportunity to visit IIT Bombay for a 6-week transformational internship in summer.
Prof. Kavi Arya (Computer Science & Engg. Dept., IIT Bombay) is the Principal Investigator of e-Yantra (https://www.e-yantra.org). e-Yantra complements conventional engineering education in India by “Project-Based Learning (PBL)” to train young engineers to build systems to solve real problems. This year e-Yantra is for young engineers globally to engage with talented Indian engineers through its unique "learn while competing” competition.
Participating teams are allotted “themes” that are abstractions of real-world problems. Themes are allotted in a selection process taking into account participants' skills and their parent discipline. The competition runs over 6 months during which participating teams work under the expert guidance of e-Yantra mentors.
