【Event Notification】2026 Global Overseas Chinese School Students & Overseas Chinese Students Singing Competition
I. Purpose
To encourage overseas Chinese school students, children of overseas compatriots, students of Taiwan Centers for Mandarin Learning (TCML), and overseas Chinese students studying in Taiwan to enhance their motivation for learning Mandarin through singing Mandarin, Taiwanese Hokkien, and Hakka songs, while gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation of Taiwan’s diverse languages and popular music culture, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) is organizing the "2026 Global Overseas Chinese School Students & Overseas Chinese Students Singing Competition."

IV. Eligibility
- Overseas Chinese students currently studying in Taiwan, including graduates of the 2026 academic year and Hong Kong/Macao students.
- Mainland Chinese students and international students are not eligible.
- The online preliminary round is an individual competition.
- For the semifinals and finals, contestants may invite other eligible overseas Chinese students to provide harmony or accompaniment. Each team may consist of up to 5 members, and each participant may join only one team.
- Professional singers under recording or talent management contracts are not eligible.
- Previous first-place winners of the OCAC Singing Competition are not eligible to participate within three years of winning.
V. Competition Schedule
- Online Preliminary Round: July 17 – August 14, 2026 (Shortlist announced on August 19)
- Online Semifinal: Upload performance videos from August 20 – August 31, 2026 (Finalists announced by September 8)
- Grand Final: September 23, 2026 (Wednesday)
VI. Competition Format
- Preliminary Round: Individual online competition.
- Semifinal & Grand Final: Contestants may invite eligible overseas Chinese students to provide harmony or accompaniment. Each team is limited to a maximum of five members.
VII. Required Songs
A total of 30 designated songs, including:
- Mandarin: 14 songs
- Taiwanese Hokkien: 8 songs
- Taiwanese Hakka: 8 songs

VIII. Registration
Eligible overseas Chinese students may register through the official website starting from July 17, 2026, and complete the online preliminary round registration and video submission according to the competition guidelines.
IX. Notes
- The competition consists of three categories: Overseas Chinese School (Group) Students, Taiwan Centers for Mandarin Learning (TCML), and Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan.
- The Overseas Chinese Students category conducts its preliminary round online.
