Theme 🌱The Perfect Blend: Building a Circular Economy Through the Coffee Industry

Organized by the Ministry of Environment, this program is centered on the vision of “Sustainability, Taiwan Experience, Global Practice” and inspired by the spirit of “Empowering Youth for Sustainable Development.”

Through Taiwan’s environmental education and sustainability initiatives, participants will explore important environmental issues in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region while developing ideas for environmental actions that can be implemented in their home countries.

The 2026 theme, “The Perfect Blend,” focuses on the coffee industry and examines topics such as:

  • Water resource management

  • Food waste treatment

  • Circular economy

  • Resource recycling and reuse

  • Coffee grounds recycling and value-added applications

  • Net-zero transition and sustainable development

The program includes lectures, site visits, group discussions, and project presentations.

August 10–11, 2026 (Monday–Tuesday)

Duration: 2 Days, 1 Night


📍Venue

Activities and field visits will be held at:

  • Come True Coffee (Audit Village Branch, Taichung)

  • Guocun Coffee Plantation, Changhua

  • Hotel National, Taichung

  • Changhua Farmers’ Association Training Center

Participants will engage in:

  • Environmental Education and Circular Economy Workshops

  • Coffee Industry and Water Resource Issues

  • Coffee Grounds Recycling and Industrial Applications

  • Field Visits and Experiential Learning

  • International Exchange on Food Waste Management and Circular Economy Practices

  • Team Discussions and Presentations

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Understand major environmental issues in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region.

  2. Learn about environmental education initiatives in Taiwan and neighboring countries.

  3. Explore innovative environmental action strategies in Taiwan.

  4. Share ideas for applying Taiwan’s environmental practices in their home communities.

  5. Experience environmental education sites and community-based environmental actions.


🎯Eligibility

Priority will be given to students from Asia-Pacific countries currently studying at colleges and universities in Taiwan.

Additional applicants may include:

  • International students from other countries

  • Taiwanese university students interested in environmental education

  • Young professionals working in environmental education

Applicants who have never participated in this program before will receive priority consideration.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • International students currently enrolled in Taiwanese universities and colleges.

  • Taiwanese university students (including master's and doctoral students) interested in environmental education or related fields, with proof of English proficiency.

  • Young professionals working in environmental education, with proof of English proficiency.

  • International Students: 30

  • Taiwanese Students and Environmental Education Professionals: 5

Total: 35 Participants

A waiting list may be established depending on the number of applications received.

Selection Results

The list of selected participants will be announced within five working days after the registration deadline.

Results will be published on the GEEP Asia-Pacific Regional Center website:

Selected applicants will also receive notification by email.


Program Fee

The organizer will cover:

  • Program fees

  • Accommodation

  • Meals

  • Shuttle transportation during the program

Participants are responsible for transportation and accommodation expenses incurred before arriving at the designated meeting point.


Attendance Deposit

Selected participants are required to pay a NT$1,000 attendance confirmation deposit.

  • The deposit will be fully refunded in cash upon completion of the entire program.

  • Participants who fail to pay the deposit by the deadline will forfeit their place.

  • Participants who do not attend or fail to complete the program will not receive a refund.

Participants unable to attend after acceptance must notify the organizer by July 13, 2026. A NT$30 bank transfer processing fee will be deducted from refunded deposits. No refunds will be provided for cancellations after the deadline.


Important Notes

  • Please familiarize yourself with topics related to food waste management and circular economy before attending.

  • Meals will be provided. Participants should indicate any dietary requirements during registration.

  • Please bring your own reusable cup and tableware.

  • Accommodation will provide towels only. Personal toiletries should be brought by participants.

  • Please provide your Line ID during registration to facilitate communication.

  • The organizer reserves the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the program due to force majeure events such as typhoons.
