NSYSU Scholarships

 

NSYSU Scholarships for Prospective International Degree Students

 

 

Level of Study Types Duration and Conditions
Doctoral Type A:
  1. Tuition waiver.
  2. Monthly stipend of TWD15,000 (≒USD500).
Type B:
  1. Tuition waiver
  2. Monthly stipend of TWD15,000 (≒USD500).
  3. On-campus student dormitory fee waiver.
  1. The maximum duration is 3 years.
  2. The recipient’s academic performance is reviewed each semester by the advisor to receive the scholarship for the subsequent semester.
  3. Applicants receiving either Type A or Type B will be decided by the scholarship review committee.
Master Tuition waiver
  1. The maximum duration is 2 years.
  2. The recipient is required to maintain a semester GPA of 3.38 or above (or a percentile score of 80%+) to receive the scholarship for the subsequent semester.
Bachelor Monthly stipend of TWD6,000 (≒USD200).
  1. Initial award for 1 year. Recipients can apply for the subsequent year. No scholarship will be awarded to students in their extended period of study (5th year).
  2. The recipient’s academic performance is reviewed at the end of the semester. A semester GPA of 2.44 or above (or a percentile score of 70%+) is required to receive the scholarship for the subsequent semester.
  3. The monthly stipend does not include a tuition waiver.

 

Notes:
  1. The scholarship award is determined by the scholarship review committee according to the “Guidelines Governing Scholarship Applications for Outstanding International Students at National Sun Yat-sen University.”
  2. New students admitted in the fall semester will receive stipends from September to July of the following year; New students admitted in the spring semester will receive it from February to January of the following year. Stipends will be transferred on the 20th of every month.
  3. During summer and winter breaks (August to September and February), stipends will be given in the following month of registration.

  1. Mark “yes” for the scholarship option in the online degree application system when applying for admission.
  2. Students applying for doctoral programs should obtain and upload a Consent Form signed by a potential advisor to obtain a tuition waiver. Application for monthly stipend will be instructed upon students’ returned confirmation of admission.

IMPORTANT! Please ensure you have read all the information below.

  • The scholarship will be canceled if recipients fail to register before deadlines.
  • International exchange or dual degree students are not eligible to apply for the NSYSU scholarship.

Excerpt from scholarship regulations

  1. Scholarships for awardees going overseas on a student exchange program or short-term research shall be suspended for the period abroad, and the granted duration of the scholarship cannot be extended.
  2. If awardees are absent from campus for more than one month (summer and winter break not included), the scholarship will be suspended for the period of absence. Suspension for two consecutive months will result in the scholarship revocation. Awardees with justifiable causes shall provide relevant evidence to apply to the Office of International Affairs for the resumption of scholarships.
  3. Scholarships for awardees on suspension or deferred enrollment shall be revoked. Such students may reapply for the scholarship at a specified time after resuming their studies. Scholarship for doctoral recipients who change their advisors shall be revoked.
  4. Scholarships for awardees with a full-time job, ARC under the purpose of work, or permanent residency shall be revoked.
  5. Scholarships for awardees in violation of University regulations who have been issued admonition or more serious disposition shall be revoked from the following month when the disciplinary disposition is finalized.
  6. Awardees arriving after the first day of class shall not receive stipends for the first of the semester (September for the fall semester and February for the spring semester). Awardees arriving on the 15th or later of the second month of the semester shall not receive stipends for the month.
  7. If the graduation, suspension, or expulsion occurs after the 15th of the month, the full amount of the stipend for the month is awarded.
  8. Ph.D. awardees must serve as a teaching or research assistant at their department (or institute or degree program) during the scholarship period.
  9. Ph.D. awardees must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 or above each semester or supply a recommendation letter from an advisor to continue the Elite Doctoral Scholarship.
