Work Permit

For international students who wish to work in Taiwan (either on campus or off campus), a valid work permit is required (online application).

With the exception of the winter and summer vacations, foreign students' sum of working hours shall not exceed 20 hours per week.

International students who work without a valid work permit will be fined NT$30,000 to NT$150,000 and may lose their residence eligibility and be deported.

The maximum validity period of a work permit is six months.

For applications made in the fall semester, the work permit is valid until March 31st of the following year at the latest.

For applications made in the spring semester, the work permit is valid until September 30th of the same year at the latest.

If your work permit is about to pass the expiration date, it is suggested to send out the new application 2~3 weeks earlier. For the new application, please remember to send out under the correct application type "work permit", NOT "work permit re-issue".

Work Permit: If it is your first time applying or your work permit is expired, please select this application type.

Work permit re-issue: If you lose your unexpired work permit, please select this application type.
