Riding scooters is one of the major ways of transportation for people in Taiwan to travel around the island. If you are thinking of riding a scooter on the campus of NSYSU, you are advised to apply for a parking permit. Otherwise, your scooter may be towed away.

Information

Required Documents

Application form with stamps from applicants’ college and department

• A copy of student ID

• A copy of the international driver's license permit/Taiwan Driver's License

• A copy of vehicle registration

• A copy of motorcycle emission test*

*Motorcycle emission test is not required for scooters manufactured within 5 years.

Fees

NT$300/ per year

Regulation

• Only scooters with valid parking permits are allowed to park in designated parking areas. The University is not held responsible for stolen or lost vehicles.

• Parking permit should be placed on a visible spot on the vehicle. Vehicles with forged and/or stolen permits are towed. Lost permits can be replaced with a minimal replacement fee.

• Driving scooters are only allowed in designated areas and are restricted within the campus zone, dormitory, and sports area.

• Scooters should be positioned within the white grids provided. Improperly parked vehicles will be towed and fined NT$300.

• Riders are required to wear a helmet while riding scooters and should not be riding under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances.

• Riders who have committed more than 3 violations within one semester will have their permits revoked and will not be able to apply for the permit in the following academic year.

• Students who have accumulated more than 3 violations in the dorm area will be expelled from the dorm.

• Obtaining a clearance stamp from the Motor Vehicle Regulation Office is part of the Leaving Procedure.

Procedure for Redeeming Towed Scooter

If your scooter is towed...

Office Hours on Weekdays

Step 1

  1. Vehicle Management Office (1F of Administration Building)
  2. Bring along your student ID and vehicle registration and pay your fines(NT$300).

Step 2

  1. Security Station at the university’s back gate (For exact location, please refer to Appx 1/ Campus map )
  2. Present your receipt to the guard to claim your scooter.

Non-Office Hours

Step 1

  1. Security Station at the university’s back gate (For exact location, please refer to Appx 1/ Campus map )
  2. Bring along your student ID and vehicle registration, write down your personal info, pay your fines (NT$300) and you can claim your scooter directly.

Step 2

  1. Vehicle Management Office (1F of Administration Building)
  2. Collect your receipt during office hours.
