All visa matters should be processed at the Taiwan Embassy / Representative Office in the countries students are located. After arriving in Taiwan, students will need to process all the related matters at the local National Immigration Agency office.

 

A. Duration of Stay UNDER 6 Months

Visitor Visa (Single/Multiple Entry)

Regulation

Single Entry visa holders must re-apply for their visa outside of Taiwan if they had left the country and wish to enter Taiwan again.

• A visitor visa is valid for a maximum of 60/90 days. 2 extensions can be made with an accumulated duration not exceeding 180 days.

• A visitor visa must be extended 15 days prior to expiration.

Required Documents for NEW Application

• A duly completed application form with two photos taken within the past six months

• A passport valid for at least 6 months

• NSYSU Letter of Approval & Letter of Acceptance

• Home university enrollment certificate

• An outbound airline ticket or verifiable proof

Usage

Taiwan Uniform ID No. or ARC No. is required to open a bank account in Taiwan.

B. Duration of Stay OVER 6 Months
Step 1/ Apply for Resident Visa

Regulation

• Students arriving in Taiwan with a Visitor Visa should re-apply for a Resident Visa in order to obtain an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC).

• Students who are issued a Resident Visa should apply for an ARC within 15 days upon arrival in Taiwan (or the day of receiving the resident visa) under current immigration regulations.

Fines will be charged for non-compliance and may result in immediate deportation.

• A copy of your ARC must be submitted to the Office of International Affairs before the end of next month after the semester starts.

• NSYSU Letter of Acceptance

• Proof of Financial Support

• The Original Health Examination Report

• The Original Authenticated Degree Diploma and Transcript (for Degree students only).

Step 2/ Acquire an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC)

• Application Form

• 1 color ID photo (2" x 2"), front head and shoulder, taken within six months.

• The original and one hard copy of the passport (the original will be returned after verification).

• Proof of registration/enrollment issued by NSYSU

Fees

NT$1,000 for 1 year
